Position:
Full Time Surgery Scheduler/MA for Specialty Office

Department: Vascular Surgery

Shift: Days

Purpose:

  • The primary purpose of a Specialty Office Surgery Scheduler is to perform assigned duties in an efficient manner, in accordance with the established procedures, and as directed by the Practice Manager and/or licensed physician(s) to assure that a successful viable office is maintained at all times. You are responsible for performing selected nursing and administrative/clerical duties that assist in patient care management, minor patient triage, administering first aid, performing laboratory and clinical tests, and assisting the physician in the office environment. In addition, you will be responsible for coordinating and submitting surgery requisitions for multiple providers within the specialty offices. Attached is an outline of the major duties and responsibilities you will be required to perform and the standards you are expected to meet in performing those duties and responsibilities.
  • This position will also require the employee to perform other related duties and activities assigned by the Director or Manager of the department.

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate required.
  • Technical or Vocational training as a Clinical Medical Assistant required. Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience preferred.
  • Experience performing prior authorizations and other medical forms preferred.
  • Requires reading and understanding of moderately complex or detailed documents containing medical terminology and understanding procedural and surgical documentation and jargon.
  • Requires arithmetic ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.
  • Requires Clinical skills related to patient intake, injections, phlebotomy, CLIA testing and other clinical medical assistant duties.
  • Experience using and documenting in Electronic Health Records (EHR), or Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Experience performing surgical requisitions preferred.
  • BLS certification preferred but not required.
