Position: Full Time RN Coordinator

Department: Tower 2 – Med Surg

Shift: 36 hours/week, 7a-7:30pm, 12 hour shift

*NO Mandatory Overtime!

*GENEROUS SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL!

 

PURPOSE

The RN Coordinator assists the department by coordinating clinical department activities on the patient unit as well as coordinating the quality of treatment and care of the patients.  This assistance includes, but is not limited to, re-prioritization and delegation.  The RN Coordinator promotes the delivery of care to each patient in accordance with quality standards and facilitates the utilization of the electronic medical record.  The RN Coordinator acts as a liaison between physicians and the patient care team, and maintains communication with other departments.  The RN Coordinator coaches, mentors and is a resource for nursing staff in developing independent judgment/critical thinking in collaboration with the managers.  

The RN is responsible for coordinating and directing the delivery of competent patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.  In caring for a patient population which may include the adolescent, adult, and the elderly, the RN identifies the special needs of the patient’s age group and respective level of growth and development, and plans the care accordingly.  The RN directs the implementation of the plan of care through performance and/or coordination of the activities of other members of the health care team.  NCP/SOC, Clinical Pathways, Departmental Policies and Procedures are used as the basis to prescribe nursing intervention.  The RN is responsible for the evaluation of nursing care given to all patients.  The RN revises the plan of care according to the needs of the patient and appropriately implements changes as necessary.

This position may also require the employee to perform other related duties and activities as assigned by the Unit Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing, and must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Must have current certification in BLS, ACLS, and EKG interpretation.
  • Must have current med/surg experience.
  • Can demonstrate knowledge regarding the nursing process and its application by current work experience in health care or recent graduate from a professional school of nursing (within last 12 months).
