PURPOSE
The primary purpose of your job position as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in the Medical Imaging Department is to perform assigned duties in an effective manner, in accordance with established policies and procedures, and as directed by your supervisor to assure that a successful viable department is maintained at all times.
Working under the direction of the Director of Medical Imaging and the Medical Imaging Supervisors, performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative. Utilizes nuclear medicine equipment and the administration of radioactive isotopes to produce diagnostic scans in specified body areas. Must care for a patient population which includes adolescents and geriatrics; therefore, must be able to identify the special needs of each patient according to age and respond appropriately. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Verification of successful graduation from an AMA accredited nuclear medicine program or radiography program with certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or Nuclear Medicine Technology Control Board.
- At least one year of full-time experience in clinical Nuclear Medicine technology including didactic experience equivalent to the curriculum recommended by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.
- Verification of Ohio State Radiological License.
- General orientation and safety programs must be completed.
- Technologist should be able to reach full productivity in 60 working days.
- Complete understanding of all common nuclear medicine procedures, sterile techniques and some knowledge of nursing skills.
- Should possess basic knowledge of how an Imaging Department functions.
- Should possess good knowledge of how a nuclear medicine department functions.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology is required.
- Has complete understanding of image processing and clerical procedures.
- Is motivated to work with long term and acute care patients.
- Must be able to function effectively and efficiently in emergencies.
- Must be able to make quick decisions when necessary.
