Position: Full Time Director of Medical Records
Department: Medical Records
Shift: Days
Purpose:
- The primary purpose of the Director of Medical Records is to perform assigned duties in an efficient manner, in accordance with established procedures, to ensure that a successful, viable Department is always maintained. It is also expected that you would create a positive atmosphere when dealing with patients, doctors, and all hospital personnel, as well as always maintain patient confidentiality. Primary responsibilities are managing the Medical Records Department, working with outsourced coding company, is the HIPAA Privacy Officer for the hospital and Professional Corp., monitoring and implementing government and third-party health information exchange requirements, and coordinating compliance activities.
- This position may also require the employee to perform other related duties and activities as assigned by the Department Head.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Required RHIT credentials
- Minimum three years related experience needed.
- Knowledge of third-party reimbursement and rules of medical record coding.
- Understanding of HIPAA Privacy regulations and requirements.
- Understanding of electronic Health Information Exchange (HIE) principles
- Manages clinical documentation improvement process
- Manage patient portal
