Position: Director of Accounting/Controller   

Department: Accounting

Shift: Full-Time, Days

‍PURPOSE

The Director of Accounting/Controller position is responsible to Salem Regional Medical Center for the accounting records of the organization and oversight of the financial systems to ensure that procedures and processes are followed.  Provide direction and mentoring to staff responsible for maintaining the Payroll and Accounts Payable systems to insure accuracy of payments to employees and vendors.  Responsible to ensure that the financial statements are prepared and reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.  Responsible for staying up to date on current tax legislation as it relates to accounts payable and payroll as well as accounting guidance that may need to be adopted.    

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree (BSBA w/major in Accounting) 
• CPA preferred.
• Ten years of progressive accounting experience is required w/computerized GL System.   
• At least 5 years of hospital experience as well as cost report and Form 990 knowledge is preferred.
• Broad knowledge related to personal computer (PC), operate a 10 key calculator.
• Above average understanding & experience of Microsoft Excel is required.
