Shift: Varied, Days
PURPOSE
The primary purpose of your job position as a Lead Radiation Therapist in the Medical Imaging Department is to perform assigned duties in an effective manner, in accordance with established policies and procedures, and as directed by your supervisor to assure that a successful viable department is maintained at all times.
Working under the direction of the Director of Medical Imaging, acts as a supportive management team member.
Will be given general guidelines and direction but is expected to function with initiative and creativity with the objective of department efficiency and technical excellence. Must demonstrate the ability to rely on experience to initiate proper judgment, manage multiple tasks, and engage as a Department leader within a limited supervised environment. Expected to develop specifications for changes and project plans for improvement in department workflow. Must be able to work effectively with a diverse group of people. Directs Radiation Therapists, students and ancillary personnel. Must care for a patient population which includes adolescents and geriatrics; therefore, must be able to identify the special needs of each patient according to age and respond appropriately. Performs other job related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Graduate of a CAHEA accredited radiation therapy program.
- Current ARRT certification as R.T.T.
- Current Ohio License in Radiation Therapy.
- 5 years’ experience as a Radiation Therapist.
- General orientation and safety programs must be completed.
- Excellent knowledge of radiation treatment, radiation safety principles and demonstrated understanding of treatment plans. (isodose plans.)
- Full knowledge of how the Radiation Therapy Department functions.
- Has a strong motivation to work with long term and acute care patients.
- Must be able to function effectively and efficiently.
- Must be able to make quick decisions when necessary.
- Must maintain a good working relationship with management.
- Must be an active and willing participant with implementing workflow and protocol changes.
